How to Cancel Smartsheet in 2026
Updated February 2026 • Difficulty: Medium • $9-32/user/month
Before Cancelling: Export Everything
⚠️ Export all your sheets, reports, and dashboards before cancelling. Smartsheet deletes your data after the subscription ends. Export as Excel (.xlsx) to preserve formatting and formulas.
To bulk export: open each sheet → File → Export → Microsoft Excel. For attachments, download them manually from each sheet.
Cancel Your Plan
- Go to app.smartsheet.com
- Click your Account icon (bottom left)
- Go to Plan & Billing Info
- Click Cancel Plan
- Follow the prompts — they'll offer discounts
- Confirm cancellation
Important: Only System Admins can cancel. If you're a regular user, you'll need to ask your admin to cancel the plan.
Annual Plan Refund
Smartsheet annual plans are non-refundable for the remaining term. If you cancel mid-year, your access continues until the end of the paid period, but you won't get a prorated refund. Cancel before your renewal date to avoid another year's charge.
Free & Cheaper Alternatives
- Notion — free for personal, $8/user for teams. Databases, Kanban, Gantt-like timelines
- Airtable — free tier (1,000 records/base). Spreadsheet-database hybrid like Smartsheet
- Google Sheets — free, collaborative, handles most project tracking needs
- Monday.com — from $8/user/month, very similar to Smartsheet
- Asana — free for up to 10 users (task management)
- ClickUp — generous free tier, Gantt charts, timelines
💰 Cost (Team of 10)
Smartsheet Business: $32/user × 10 = $3,840/year
Notion Team: $8/user × 10 = $960/year
Google Sheets: $0 (or $6/user with Workspace)
ClickUp Free: $0
💡 Tip: Many teams use Smartsheet for basic project tracking that Google Sheets or Notion handles equally well. If you're not using Smartsheet's advanced features (automations, resource management, Control Center), you're overpaying for a spreadsheet.
