How to Cancel Zipcar Membership in 2026

Zipcar Plans

• Monthly: $9/month + hourly/daily rates
• Annual: $90/year ($7.50/month equivalent)
• Student: $25/year (with university partnership)
• Corporate/University: Often free (employer/school-provided)

On top of the membership, you pay per reservation ($11-16/hour or $90-120/day, varies by market and vehicle).

Before You Cancel

1. Use your driving credits: Any credit balance is forfeited when you cancel. Book a trip to use them up
2. Check for pending charges: Outstanding tolls, parking tickets, or damage claims must be resolved first
3. Complete any active reservations: Cancel all upcoming bookings

How to Cancel

By Phone (Required for Most Plans)

1. Call 1-866-494-7227
2. Have your member number ready
3. Say "I want to cancel my Zipcar membership"
4. Confirm any outstanding balance
5. Ask for email confirmation of cancellation

Online (Limited)

1. Go to zipcar.com/account
2. Look for membership or plan settings
3. Some plan types allow online cancellation — try it first
4. If there's no cancel option, you'll need to call

Return Your Zipcard

Zipcar may ask you to return your physical card or destroy it. If you don't return it, they may charge a replacement fee on your next billing cycle (even after cancellation). Cut it up and email Zipcar confirming you've destroyed it.
