How to Cancel YouTube Music Premium in 2026
Updated February 2026 • Difficulty: Easy • $10.99/month
⚠️ Check first: If you have YouTube Premium ($13.99/month), YouTube Music is already included. You might be paying for both. Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships to see all your subscriptions.
Cancel on Web
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships
- Find YouTube Music Premium
- Click Deactivate or Cancel
- Confirm — access continues until end of billing period
Cancel on iPhone
If you subscribed through the iOS app (charged by Apple):
- Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
- Find YouTube Music
- Tap Cancel Subscription
Note: Apple charges $13.99/month for YouTube Music Premium (vs $10.99 direct). If you're paying through Apple, you're paying 27% more.
Cancel on Android
- Open the YouTube Music app
- Tap your profile icon → Paid memberships
- Tap Manage → Cancel
What You Lose (and What You Keep)
- Lose: Ad-free listening, background play on mobile, offline downloads
- Keep: Access to all music (with ads), ability to search and play any song
The free tier of YouTube Music is actually quite good — you get the full music catalog, just with ads between songs and no background play on mobile.
Free & Cheaper Alternatives
- YouTube Music Free — same library, ads between songs
- Spotify Free — shuffle play with ads, huge library
- Amazon Music — free with Prime (ad-supported, limited skips on mobile)
- Tidal Free — ad-supported tier available
- SoundCloud Free — great for indie/emerging artists
💰 Music Subscription Audit
YouTube Music Premium: $10.99/month = $131.88/year
YouTube Premium (includes Music): $13.99/month = $167.88/year
Spotify Premium: $11.99/month = $143.88/year
Apple Music: $10.99/month = $131.88/year
Free with ads: $0
💡 Tip: If you're paying for both Spotify and YouTube Music, pick one and cancel the other. They have 90%+ catalog overlap. That's $132-144/year you're spending on a duplicate service.
