Cancel Twitch Subscriptions in 2026: Stop the Recurring Charges You Forgot About
Updated 2026-03-02 • 6 min read
💸 The Twitch sub creep is real: Tier 1 subs are $5.99/month each. Three forgotten subs = $215/year going to streamers you stopped watching months ago. Channel subs do NOT auto-cancel when you stop watching.
Find All Your Active Twitch Subscriptions
- Go to twitch.tv/subscriptions (must be logged in)
- This page shows EVERY active subscription — channel subs, gift subs, Twitch Turbo
- Check for subs to channels you haven't watched in 30+ days
- Also check: twitch.tv/settings/connections for third-party billing
Cancel a Channel Subscription
On Desktop
- Go to twitch.tv/subscriptions
- Find the subscription you want to cancel
- Click the cog/gear icon next to it
- Select "Don't Renew Subscription"
- Confirm — you keep access until the current period ends
On Mobile App
- Open the Twitch app
- Tap your profile icon
- Tap Subscriptions
- Select the subscription to cancel
- Tap "Don't Renew"
⚠️ iOS/Android app subscribers: If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, canceling on Twitch.tv won't work. You MUST cancel through your phone's subscription settings (Settings → Subscriptions on iOS, Google Play → Subscriptions on Android).
Cancel Twitch Turbo ($11.99/month)
Twitch Turbo removes ads across ALL channels. Here's how to cancel:
- Go to twitch.tv/turbo
- Click "Cancel Turbo" or "Don't Renew"
- Ad-free viewing continues until end of billing period
Free alternatives to ad-free Twitch:
- Subscribe to individual channels with your free Prime Gaming sub (1 per month with Amazon Prime)
- Subscribed channels are ad-free — no Turbo needed
- Some ad blockers still work on Twitch desktop (changes frequently)
Understanding Twitch Sub Tiers
- Tier 1: $5.99/month — basic emotes and badge
- Tier 2: $9.99/month — extra emotes (rarely worth it)
- Tier 3: $24.99/month — premium emotes (almost never worth it)
- Prime Sub: Free with Amazon Prime — 1 channel per month (must manually renew each month)
The Prime Gaming Sub Strategy
If you have Amazon Prime, you get one free Twitch sub per month through Prime Gaming. The catch:
- It does NOT auto-renew — you must manually re-subscribe each month
- If you forget, you lose your sub streak (cosmetic badge only)
- Use your Prime sub on your favorite streamer instead of paying $5.99
- Cancel all paid subs and rotate your free Prime sub monthly
Gift Subs: The Hidden Auto-Renewal
When you gift subs to a channel, there's a checkbox for "recurring gift" that's easy to miss. Check your subscriptions page for any recurring gift sub payments — these charge your card monthly to gift subs to random viewers.
🎮 Average Twitch user has 2.3 paid subscriptions. That's $165/year for emotes and badges on channels they might not watch regularly. Upload your bank statement to find all your recurring Twitch charges.
