How to Cancel Todoist Pro in 2026 (Export Your Tasks First)
Updated February 2026 · 3 min read
Todoist Pro costs $4/month ($48/year). While affordable, the free tier handles 5 projects and basic task management — enough for most personal use. Here's how to cancel without losing your data.
Export Tasks First
Before cancelling, go to Settings → Backups in Todoist and export your tasks as a CSV. The free tier limits you to 5 active projects — if you have more, some will be archived (not deleted) when you downgrade.
How to Cancel
- Go to todoist.com/app/settings/subscription
- Sign in to your account
- Click Manage subscription
- Click Cancel subscription
- Confirm — you keep Pro features until the billing period ends, then downgrade to free
Free vs Pro
- Free: 5 projects, 5 collaborators, basic filters, 5MB uploads
- Pro ($4/month): 300 projects, 25 collaborators, reminders, labels, comments, 100MB uploads
- Business ($6/month): Team features, admin controls, team billing
If you use Todoist for personal task management with fewer than 5 projects, the free tier is genuinely sufficient.
Free Alternatives
- Microsoft To Do (free): Unlimited lists, My Day feature, integrates with Outlook
- Google Tasks (free): Simple, integrates with Gmail and Calendar
- Apple Reminders (free): Built into every Apple device, syncs across iCloud
- TickTick (free tier): Similar to Todoist with calendar view included free
- Notion (free): Flexible workspace that can handle tasks, notes, and projects
💡 Pro tip: Upload your bank statement to
JustCancel to find all your productivity subscriptions. Todoist + Notion + calendar apps + note apps = death by $4/month tools.
