How to Cancel TaskRabbit in 2026 (Client or Tasker Account)
TaskRabbit doesn't have a monthly subscription — it's pay-per-task. So "canceling" means either closing your client account or deactivating your Tasker profile. Here's both processes and what to handle first.
Close Your Client Account
- Make sure all tasks are completed or canceled
- Go to taskrabbit.com/account/close
- Or: Account → Settings → scroll to bottom → Close Account
- Select a reason
- Confirm closure
⚠️ Complete pending tasks first
If you have an active task (booked Tasker, scheduled appointment), you can't close your account until it's completed or properly canceled. Cancel any upcoming tasks through the app before attempting account closure.
Deactivate as a Tasker (Service Provider)
If you work on TaskRabbit and want to stop:
- Complete all accepted tasks — you can't deactivate with open jobs
- Withdraw all earnings to your bank account
- Go to Account → Settings → Deactivate Account
- Or contact TaskRabbit support to fully close your Tasker account
Cancel a Specific Task (Not Your Account)
If you just want to cancel an upcoming task, not your whole account:
- Open the TaskRabbit app → My Tasks
- Find the task → Cancel Task
- Free cancellation: if the Tasker hasn't confirmed or you cancel early enough
- Cancellation fee: may apply if you cancel last-minute (varies by situation)
- Within 24 hours of a scheduled task: expect a fee
Getting a Refund
TaskRabbit's refund policy is case-by-case:
- Task not completed properly: Contact support within 48 hours of task completion
- Tasker no-show: Full refund, report through the app
- You canceled last-minute: Cancellation fee usually non-refundable
- Damage during task: TaskRabbit has a $1 million property protection program (TaskRabbit Happiness Pledge)
- Contact: support.taskrabbit.com or through the app's help section
For Taskers: Withdraw Your Money First
Before deactivating your Tasker account:
- Check your Payments tab for any pending earnings
- TaskRabbit pays via direct deposit — make sure your bank info is correct
- Earnings from completed tasks are available after the payment hold period
- Wait for all pending payments to clear before closing
What Gets Deleted
- Client account: Task history, reviews, saved Taskers, payment methods — all removed
- Tasker account: Reviews, ratings, task history, Elite status — all gone
- IKEA connection: If you signed up through IKEA Assembly, that link is severed
- Tax documents: Download your 1099 (if applicable) before closing
Alternatives to TaskRabbit
- Thumbtack — broader service categories, get quotes from multiple pros
- Handy — focused on cleaning and home services
- Amazon Home Services — book through Amazon, IKEA assembly alternative
- Nextdoor — find local help through neighborhood recommendations
- Angi (Angie's List) — vetted pros for home improvement
🎯 Bottom Line
TaskRabbit isn't a subscription — there's no recurring charge to cancel. To close your account: complete or cancel all pending tasks, then go to taskrabbit.com/account/close. Taskers: withdraw all earnings first. Your reviews and history are permanently deleted.
