How to Cancel or Remove Securly in 2026
Last updated: February 2026 • Difficulty: Medium • Note: School-managed service
Which Securly Product Do You Have?
Securly makes two different products:
- Securly (School) — web filtering and student safety platform installed by your school district. You cannot cancel this as a parent or student.
- Securly Home — optional parental control app (~$5/mo) that you chose to install. This one you CAN cancel.
Cancel Securly Home (Personal Subscription)
If you're paying for Securly Home yourself:
If subscribed through Apple:
- Open iPhone Settings → tap your name
- Tap Subscriptions
- Find Securly Home
- Tap Cancel Subscription
If subscribed through Google Play:
- Open Google Play Store
- Tap profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
- Find Securly

For Parents: What You Can Do About School Securly
If Securly is on your child's school Chromebook or laptop and you want it changed:
- Contact your school's IT department — they control Securly settings and can adjust filtering levels or whitelist specific sites
- Request a parent portal account — some districts give parents access to Securly's parent portal where you can see what's being filtered and request changes
- Use a personal device — Securly only filters school-owned devices. On your child's personal phone or home computer, it has no effect
- Attend a school board meeting — if you disagree with the filtering policy, this is the official channel to advocate for changes
For School Administrators: Cancel Securly
If you're a school IT administrator looking to cancel Securly:
- Email support@securly.com or call 1-855-732-8759
- Reference your school district's account and contract
- Request cancellation and removal instructions
- Remove the Securly certificate from managed Chromebooks via Google Admin Console
- Remove the Securly extension from your Chrome management policy
Note: Securly contracts are typically annual. Check your contract end date — you may need to provide notice 30–60 days before renewal to avoid auto-renewal.
Why Students Can't Bypass Securly
Securly works at the DNS and certificate level on managed devices. Unlike a simple browser extension, it intercepts all web traffic through a trusted certificate installed by your school's device management system. VPNs, proxy sites, and DNS changes typically don't work because the device management profile prevents those changes.
Attempting to bypass school security software can result in disciplinary action. If a site is incorrectly blocked, the right approach is to request your teacher or IT department to whitelist it.
Securly Home Alternatives (Free)
If you're canceling Securly Home but still want parental controls:
- Apple Screen Time — built into every iPhone/iPad, comprehensive content filtering and time limits
- Google Family Link — free, manages Android devices and Chromebooks
- Microsoft Family Safety — free, works across Windows, Xbox, and mobile
- OpenDNS FamilyShield — free DNS-level filtering for your entire home network
The built-in options (Screen Time and Family Link) are genuinely better than most paid parental control apps because they're integrated at the OS level and can't be easily removed by kids.
