Ring Protect costs $3.99-20/month ($39.99-199.99/year). It stores video recordings from your Ring doorbell and cameras. Without it, your Ring doorbell still works for live video, two-way talk, and motion alerts — you just can't save or review recordings. For many people, that's enough.
Ring Protect may be billed through your Amazon account. Check Amazon → Account → Memberships & Subscriptions to see if Ring is listed there. If so, cancel through Amazon, not ring.com.

The key question: do you actually review Ring recordings? If your doorbell is mainly for seeing who's at the door and talking to delivery drivers, you don't need the subscription.
| Service | Annual |
|---|---|
| Ring Protect Plus | $100 |
| Nest Aware | $80-120 |
| Arlo Secure | $100-180 |
| All three (if mixed ecosystem) | $280-400/yr |
Your Ring doorbell's most useful features — live video, two-way talk, and motion alerts — work without any subscription. If you rarely review past recordings, cancel Ring Protect and save $40-200/year. The doorbell is still a doorbell.
