How to Cancel Reddit Premium 2026 — Is $6/Month Worth It?
Updated March 2026 • 4 min read
Reddit Premium costs $6.99/month or $49.99/year for ad-free browsing, 700 monthly coins, and access to r/lounge. The ads on Reddit are easy to scroll past, the coins are nearly worthless, and r/lounge is a dead subreddit. This is one of the easiest cancellation decisions you'll make.

Why Reddit Premium Is Not Worth It
- Ad blockers exist: uBlock Origin (free browser extension) removes all Reddit ads — $0/month
- Reddit ads are minimal: Unlike YouTube pre-roll, Reddit ads are just promoted posts easily scrolled past
- Coins are useless: Reddit's award/coin system has been repeatedly changed and devalued
- r/lounge is dead: The "exclusive" subreddit for Premium members has almost no activity
- Third-party apps: Many Reddit clients offer cleaner ad-free experiences
- $84/year for scrolling: You're paying to scroll Reddit slightly more comfortably. That's it.
Free Alternatives to Ad-Free Reddit
- uBlock Origin: Free browser extension, blocks all Reddit ads on desktop
- old.reddit.com: Old Reddit design has fewer and less intrusive ads
- RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite): Free browser extension with filtering and customization
- Just scroll past: Reddit ads are clearly labeled "Promoted" — they take 0.5 seconds to skip
