📺 The Merger Billing Nightmare
When Paramount+ absorbed Showtime, millions of people ended up with two separate subscriptions billing simultaneously — one for standalone Showtime and one for the new Paramount+ with Showtime bundle. If you had Showtime before the merger, check your bank statement for double charges right now.
The biggest challenge with Paramount+ is figuring out WHERE you're being billed. Check all of these:
Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Paramount+ → Cancel
Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Paramount+ → Cancel
my.roku.com → Manage subscriptions → Paramount+ → Unsubscribe
amazon.com → Account → Memberships & Subscriptions → Prime Video Channels → Paramount+ → Cancel
If you get Paramount+ through your cable provider (Xfinity, DirecTV, etc.), you must cancel through the provider, not Paramount+ directly. Check if it's a free add-on with your TV package before canceling — you might have it included.
⚠️ Check for BOTH Subscriptions
Search your bank/credit card statement for: "PARAMOUNT", "SHOWTIME", "CBS", and "VIACOM". You may find two separate charges. The old standalone Showtime subscription did NOT automatically merge — you could be paying for both.
Many people keep Paramount+ only for NFL, Champions League, or March Madness. Alternatives:
Walmart+ membership ($98/year) includes free Paramount+ Essential. If you have Walmart+, you're paying for Paramount+ twice. Activate the free tier through your Walmart+ account and cancel your standalone Paramount+ subscription.
