Orangetheory (OTF) costs $69-$169/month depending on your plan and location. That's up to $2,028/year for a fitness class you might attend twice a week. Here's how to cancel without getting hit with surprise charges.
Orangetheory requires 30 days' written notice before your billing date. Miss it by even one day and you're locked in for another month. If your billing date is the 15th, you must submit cancellation by the 14th of the previous month.
You must cancel in person or by letter. No phone, no email, no app.
If you're not sure about canceling, OTF offers a membership freeze for $15/month. This is cheaper than the full rate but still costs money. Only freeze if you genuinely plan to return within 1-2 months — otherwise, cancel and rejoin later (they often run rejoining promotions).
| Plan | Monthly | Annual Cost | Per Class* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic (4/mo) | $69 | $828 | $17.25 |
| Elite (8/mo) | $109 | $1,308 | $13.63 |
| Premier (unlimited) | $169 | $2,028 | $14-42 (depends on usage) |
*Prices vary by market — NYC/LA can be 20-30% higher
The honest math:
Switching from OTF Premier ($169/mo) to Planet Fitness + Peloton App = $23/month = $1,752 saved per year. That's a vacation. Or 7 months of groceries. The workouts are different, but the calorie burn is similar.
