How to Cancel NordPass in 2026 (Keep Your Passwords — Here's How)
NordPass Premium costs $1.49-$2.99/month depending on your plan length, but you probably signed up for a 2-year deal that auto-renews at a higher price. Here's how to cancel, export your passwords, and whether the free tier is good enough.
Before You Cancel: Export Your Passwords
- Open NordPass app or go to app.nordpass.com
- Go to Settings → Export Items
- Choose CSV format
- Enter your master password to confirm
- Save the file securely — it contains all your passwords in plain text
⚠️ Handle your export file carefully
The CSV export contains every password in readable text. Import it into your new password manager immediately, then permanently delete the CSV file. Don't leave it in Downloads or on your desktop.
How to Cancel NordPass Premium
- Go to my.nordaccount.com/dashboard/nordpass/
- Click Subscription
- Click Cancel Auto-Renewal
- Confirm cancellation
Your Premium access continues until the end of the current billing period. After that, you're downgraded to NordPass Free — not deleted.
NordPass Free vs Premium — What You Actually Lose
The free tier is surprisingly usable:
- Unlimited passwords — free tier stores unlimited passwords (changed from previous 50 limit)
- One device at a time — free only lets you be logged in on one device (Premium: unlimited)
- No password sharing — can't share credentials with family/team
- No Data Breach Scanner — won't alert you if passwords appear in breaches
- No emergency access — can't designate a trusted person
If you only use one device and don't need sharing, free NordPass works fine.
The Renewal Price Trap
NordPass's pricing is classic subscription bait:
- First 2 years: ~$1.49/month ($35.76 total)
- Renewal: ~$2.99/month ($71.76/year) — nearly double
- The "monthly" price requires a 2-year commitment upfront
If the renewal price is what triggered you to cancel, you're not alone. Cancel before renewal, then check for a "win-back" offer — Nord frequently sends discounted re-subscription emails.
Cancel via App Store (If Applicable)
If you subscribed through your phone:
- iPhone: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → NordPass → Cancel
- Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → NordPass → Cancel
Free Password Manager Alternatives
- Bitwarden (free) — open source, unlimited passwords, unlimited devices, the gold standard for free password managers
- Apple Keychain (free) — built into iOS/Mac, auto-fills everywhere in the Apple ecosystem
- Google Password Manager (free) — built into Chrome, syncs across all Chrome browsers
- Proton Pass (free) — from the makers of ProtonMail, includes email aliases
- KeePassXC (free) — offline, open source, maximum privacy (you host your own vault)
How to Import Passwords to Bitwarden
If switching to Bitwarden (recommended):
- Create a free account at bitwarden.com
- Go to Tools → Import Data
- Select NordPass (csv) from the dropdown
- Upload your exported CSV file
- All passwords import in seconds
- Delete the CSV file from your computer
NordPass vs NordVPN — Different Subscriptions
Canceling NordPass does NOT cancel NordVPN (or vice versa). They're separate products under the Nord umbrella:
- NordPass = password manager
- NordVPN = VPN service
- NordLocker = encrypted file storage
- Each has its own subscription — check your Nord account dashboard for all active subscriptions
🎯 Bottom Line
Export your passwords first (Settings → Export Items → CSV). Cancel at my.nordaccount.com. The free tier keeps your passwords but limits you to one device. For a better free option, switch to Bitwarden — it's open source, unlimited devices, and imports NordPass data directly.
