How to Cancel Monday.com in 2026 — Export Data + Avoid the Annual Lock-In

Cancel Your Subscription

1. Click your avatar (bottom-left) → Admin
2. Go to Billing section
3. Click Change plan or Cancel subscription
4. Walk through the retention flow — they'll offer discounts and free months
5. Confirm cancellation

Before You Cancel: Export Everything

Monday.com doesn't make data export easy. Here's what to save:

1. Boards: Open each board → Menu (three dots) → Export board to Excel
2. Files: Download any uploaded files individually (no bulk download)
3. Dashboards: Screenshot or manually recreate — no export option
4. Activity logs: Not exportable — screenshot if you need the history
5. Automations: Document your automation rules manually — they don't export

The Annual Plan Trap

Monday.com's pricing is designed to push you into annual plans:

• Monthly: ~$12-24/seat/month (depending on tier)
• Annual: ~$9-19/seat/month (18-20% discount)
• Minimum seats: 3 seats minimum on paid plans

The catch: Annual plans are non-refundable. If you signed up for annual with a 5-person team at $19/seat, that's $1,140/year committed. Cancel and you lose the remaining balance.

Downgrade first: Before your annual renewal, switch to the Free plan (up to 2 seats) or reduce your seat count. Do this at least 7 days before renewal.

Monday.com's Hidden Costs

• Seat inflation: Added users over the year? Your renewal includes every seat, even ones you forgot about
