How to Cancel Keeper Password Manager in 2026
Updated February 2026 โข 5 min read
Keeper charges $2.92/month ($34.99/year) for Personal or $6.25/month ($74.99/year) for Family. Add-ons like BreachWatch ($1.67/mo) and secure file storage ($0.83/mo) push it higher. Meanwhile, Bitwarden does everything Keeper does for free. Here's how to cancel and migrate.
๐ด Export BEFORE canceling: After your subscription expires, Keeper locks your vault. You can still log in and export, but you can't add, edit, or sync passwords. Export while your account is active.
Step 1: Export Your Vault
- Open Keeper Web Vault or desktop app
- Go to Settings โ Export
- Choose CSV format (compatible with all password managers)
- Download and store securely โ this file contains all your passwords in plain text
- Import into Bitwarden or your new password manager immediately
- Delete the CSV file after importing โ never leave plain-text passwords on disk
Step 2: Cancel Keeper
- Log into keepersecurity.com
- Click Account โ Subscription
- Click "Cancel Subscription"
- If purchased through App Store/Google Play, cancel through that platform instead
- Confirm cancellation โ access continues until end of billing period
Why Switch: Keeper vs Bitwarden
- Bitwarden Free: Unlimited passwords, unlimited devices, TOTP authenticator โ $0/year
- Bitwarden Premium: Emergency access, advanced 2FA, 1GB storage โ $10/year
- Keeper Personal: Same features โ $34.99/year (3.5x more)
- Bitwarden is open-source โ security auditable by anyone. Keeper is closed-source
- Bitwarden family plan: $40/year for 6 users vs Keeper's $74.99 for 5
The Keeper Add-On Upsell Problem
Keeper's base price looks reasonable, but they nickel-and-dime with add-ons. BreachWatch (dark web monitoring) is $19.99/year extra โ Bitwarden includes this for free. Secure file storage is $9.99/year extra โ Bitwarden gives 1GB free with Premium ($10/year total). The "Plus Bundle" with everything is $58.47/year โ nearly 6x the cost of Bitwarden Premium.
Free Password Manager Options
- Bitwarden (free) โ Best overall. Open-source, cross-platform, unlimited everything
- Apple Passwords (free) โ Built into iOS/macOS. Great if you're all-Apple
- Google Password Manager (free) โ Built into Chrome. Syncs across devices
- Proton Pass (free tier) โ From the Proton privacy suite. Unlimited logins, 10 aliases
- KeePassXC (free, open-source) โ Local vault, no cloud. Maximum security
Bottom line: Keeper is a solid password manager that's simply overpriced. Bitwarden offers the same features (and more) for free or $10/year. Export your vault, import into Bitwarden, delete Keeper, save $35-75/year. The migration takes 10 minutes.
