How to Cancel HubSpot in 2026
Updated February 2026 · Difficulty: Hard · $20-3,600+/mo
🔒 Annual Contracts: No Early Exit
HubSpot annual plans cannot be canceled mid-contract. There are no refunds, no prorating, and no exceptions. You must wait until your renewal date and provide 30 days notice. If you miss the renewal window, you're locked in for another year.
Step 1: Export Your Data
Before canceling, export everything:
- ✅ Contacts: Contacts > Actions > Export
- ✅ Deals/Pipeline: Sales > Deals > Export
- ✅ Companies: Contacts > Companies > Export
- ✅ Tickets: Service > Tickets > Export
- ✅ Email templates: Copy manually (no bulk export)
- ✅ Marketing emails: Marketing > Email > Export analytics (content requires manual save)
- ✅ Landing pages/blog: Copy HTML manually or use a scraper
- ✅ Reports: Export each report individually to CSV/Excel
- ✅ Workflows/automations: Screenshot each workflow (no export function)
Step 2: Cancel the Subscription
- Email cancelaccount@hubspot.com with your Hub ID (found in Settings > Account Defaults)
- State: "I am requesting cancellation of my [Marketing/Sales/Service] Hub subscription. My Hub ID is [number]. Please confirm my cancellation date and that no renewal will be processed."
- For monthly plans: cancellation takes effect 30 days from your email
- For annual plans: cancellation takes effect at contract end date
- HubSpot may try to negotiate — be clear that you're canceling, not renegotiating
HubSpot's Pricing Has Gotten Out of Control
HubSpot's pricing tiers have expanded dramatically, and costs escalate fast:
- Free CRM: $0 (limited to 1,000 contacts with marketing features)
- Starter: $20/mo per seat (basic features)
- Professional: $890/mo (Marketing), $500/mo (Sales), $500/mo (Service)
- Enterprise: $3,600/mo (Marketing), $1,500/mo (Sales/Service)
- Contact tier overage: Additional contacts cost $50-250/mo per 5,000 contacts
- Onboarding fee: $3,000-$12,000 one-time (required for Pro/Enterprise)
A mid-size company on Marketing Professional with 20,000 contacts and 5 seats can easily spend $2,000-4,000/month — $24,000-48,000/year on what started as "affordable marketing software."
Free & Cheaper Alternatives
- HubSpot Free CRM ($0): The free tier is actually good — unlimited contacts in CRM, basic email, forms, and reporting. You may not need the paid tier
- Brevo (formerly Sendinblue, $25+/mo): Email marketing + CRM at a fraction of HubSpot's price
- Zoho CRM ($14-52/user/mo): Full CRM with marketing automation. Much cheaper than HubSpot Professional
- Mailchimp ($13-350/mo): Email marketing with basic CRM. Good for small teams
- Pipedrive ($14-99/user/mo): Sales CRM focused — if you only need pipeline management
- Notion + Mailchimp ($0-20/mo): Lightweight CRM in Notion + email via Mailchimp. Works for very small teams
💰 The HubSpot to Brevo Switch
Switching from HubSpot Marketing Pro ($890/mo) to Brevo Business ($65/mo) saves $9,900/year for similar functionality (email automation, landing pages, CRM, segmentation). The migration takes 1-2 weeks but the ROI is immediate.
