Hootsuite costs $99/month for Professional or $249/month for Team. They killed their free plan in 2023 and have been raising prices every year since. For a tool that basically schedules social media posts, that's absurd. Here's how to cancel and what to use instead.
⚠️ The "Downgrade" trap: Hootsuite may show a "Downgrade to Free" option that looks like cancellation but isn't. The free tier is extremely limited (2 social accounts, 5 scheduled posts). Make sure you're actually cancelling your paid subscription.
Hootsuite was the original social media management tool, but they've priced out most users:
People justify Hootsuite for "analytics" but every platform gives you better native analytics for free. Instagram Insights, X Analytics, LinkedIn Analytics, and Facebook Insights all show engagement, reach, and follower growth. Hootsuite just aggregates this same data into one dashboard — which sounds convenient until you realize you're paying $1,188/year for a dashboard.
For teams that genuinely manage 10+ accounts across platforms:
Bottom line: Hootsuite made sense in 2015 when native scheduling didn't exist. In 2026, every platform has built-in scheduling, and cheaper alternatives do everything Hootsuite does. Unless your team manages 20+ accounts, you're overpaying by 5-10x.
