Grubhub+ costs $9.99/month and gives you free delivery on orders over $12. That sounds great until you do the math — if you order less than 3 times a month, you are paying more for the membership than you save on delivery fees. Here is how to cancel and whether you should.
📦 Got Grubhub+ free with Amazon Prime?
If your Grubhub+ came bundled with Amazon Prime, you cannot cancel it through Grubhub. You need to manage it through Amazon: Go to amazon.com → Account → Prime Membership → Manage Prime Benefits. You can turn off the Grubhub+ benefit without canceling Prime itself. If you cancel Prime entirely, Grubhub+ goes with it.
Grubhub+ costs $9.99/month. Average delivery fee without it: $3-5 per order.
The hidden trap: Having free delivery encourages more ordering. Many people find they spend 20-40% more on food delivery after subscribing because the friction of a delivery fee is gone. Factor in the total food spend increase, not just the delivery savings.
Unless you order delivery 3+ times a month, Grubhub+ costs more than it saves. And if you have it through Amazon Prime, it is technically "free" but still encourages extra spending. Cancel and see if your food spending drops — most people are surprised how much the "free delivery" was costing them in increased orders.
