How to Cancel Google One

1. Go to one.google.com
2. Click Settings → Cancel membership
3. Confirm cancellation — storage reverts to 15GB at end of billing period
4. If over 15GB, Google won't delete data immediately but will stop syncing new content

Free Up Space to Stay Under 15GB

Gmail (~30-50% of most people's storage)

1. Search "has:attachment larger:5M" in Gmail — delete large emails you don't need
2. Search "older_than:2y" — archive or delete old emails
3. Empty Spam and Trash (these count toward storage!)
4. Unsubscribe from newsletters you never read

Google Photos (~40-60% of storage)

1. Go to photos.google.com/storage — see exactly what's using space
2. Delete blurry/duplicate photos (Google suggests these automatically)
3. Download full-res originals to external drive, then delete from cloud
4. Future: take fewer burst photos, disable RAW backup

Google Drive (~10-20% of storage)

1. Go to drive.google.com/drive/quota — see files sorted by size
2. Delete old shared files, project archives, and downloads
3. Move large files to an external drive

When Google One IS Worth It

• You have 20,000+ photos and genuinely need cloud backup
• You share storage with family (2TB plan, up to 5 members = $2/person/month)
• You use Google Workspace for business and need the extra Drive space
