How to Cancel Figma Professional in 2026 — Export Files + Free Design Alternatives

Cancel Your Subscription

1. Go to figma.com/settings
2. Click Account → Plan (or Billing)
3. Click Downgrade to Free or Cancel plan
4. For team/org plans: Only the admin can cancel
5. Confirm — changes take effect at end of billing period

Before You Cancel: Export Everything

1. Individual files: File menu → Export → choose format (PNG, SVG, PDF)
2. Entire file (editable): File → Save local copy (.fig file — can re-import later)
3. Bulk export: No built-in bulk export. Use the "Export All Pages" plugin, or save local copies one by one
4. Design tokens: If you use design tokens, export them separately
5. Component library: Save your component library file as a local .fig copy

The "Editor" Seat Trap

Figma charges per "editor" seat. Anyone who edits a file — even a developer tweaking copy or a PM moving a sticky note — counts as an editor and gets charged. Common surprise: a team of 3 designers finds they're paying for 8 editor seats because developers and PMs opened files in edit mode.

Before canceling: Audit your seats. Remove editors who should be viewers. This alone might halve your bill if you decide to stay.
