How to Cancel ESPN+ in 2026 — Plus Untangle the Disney Bundle
Updated February 2026 • 5 min read
⚠️ ESPN+ cancellation depends entirely on how you subscribed. Direct, Apple, Google, Disney Bundle, Hulu add-on, and cable provider each have different cancel paths. Get it wrong and you're still paying.
Cancel ESPN+ (Direct Subscription)
- Go to plus.espn.com/account
- Sign in and click your profile icon
- Click ESPN+ Subscription
- Click Cancel Subscription
- Confirm — you keep access until the billing period ends
Cancel ESPN+ Through the Disney Bundle
This is where it gets confusing. If you have the Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle:
- Billed by Disney+: Go to disneyplus.com/account → Subscription → Cancel. This cancels the ENTIRE bundle (Disney+, Hulu, AND ESPN+).
- Billed by Hulu: Go to hulu.com/account → Manage Add-ons → Remove ESPN+. You can drop ESPN+ without losing Hulu/Disney+.
- Billed by your cable provider (Xfinity, Spectrum, etc.): Call your provider — ESPN+ is part of your TV package and can't be canceled through ESPN's website.
💡 Bundle tip: If you only want Disney+ and Hulu (not ESPN+), cancel the full bundle and resubscribe to the Disney+/Hulu duo plan — it's usually $4-6/month cheaper.
Cancel Through Apple/Google
- iPhone/iPad: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → ESPN+ → Cancel
- Android: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → ESPN+ → Cancel
- Roku: Roku home → Settings → Manage subscriptions → ESPN+ → Cancel
If you subscribed through one platform, you MUST cancel through that same platform. ESPN's website will say "managed by Apple" and won't let you cancel there.
What You Actually Lose
ESPN+ is different from the ESPN app. Here's what's behind the paywall:
- Lose: UFC PPV events (still need to buy separately anyway), exclusive NHL/MLS/college games, 30 for 30 documentaries, fantasy tools
- Keep free: ESPN app scores, highlights, SportsCenter clips, basic fantasy football, podcasts
Unless you specifically watch MLS, NHL out-of-market games, or UFC, the free ESPN app gives you 90% of what most fans actually use.
The Annual Plan Trap
ESPN+ offers a $109.99/year plan. If you're on it, you can cancel but won't get a prorated refund for unused months. If you're 2 months into an annual plan, you're paying for 10 months of nothing.
Lesson: Always start with monthly when trying a new service. Only switch to annual after you've used it for 3+ months consistently.
Get a Refund
- Monthly plan: Contact ESPN support within 3 days of charge — refunds are case-by-case
- Annual plan: Full refund within 7 days of purchase, nothing after
- Apple subscription: Request through reportaproblem.apple.com
- Accidental PPV purchase: Call ESPN at 1-888-549-3776 immediately — PPV refunds have a 24-hour window
Free Sports Streaming Alternatives
- Tubi: Free, has some live sports and classic games
- Pluto TV: Free, CBS Sports channel, NFL channel
- Yahoo Sports app: Free local NFL games on mobile
- Network apps (FOX, CBS, NBC): Free with cable login, some games free without
- Your local library: Many have Kanopy, which occasionally has sports documentaries
