Before Closing Your Account
- Transfer your balance to another bank via external transfer
- Update direct deposit with your employer — switch to your new bank
- Move automatic payments (subscriptions, bills) to another card
- Spend or transfer any points
- Wait for pending transactions to clear
How to Close
- Open the Current app
- Tap Profile
- Go to Settings
- Tap Close Account
- Confirm closure

⚠️ Get Your Money Out First
If you close with a balance remaining, Current mails a check that takes 7-10 business days. Transfer via external transfer or spend down the balance to $0 before closing to avoid the wait.
Just Want to Cancel Premium?
If you want to keep your Current account but stop paying for Premium ($4.99/month):
- Open Current app → Profile
- Go to Settings → Subscription
- Tap Cancel Premium
- Your account downgrades to Free — you keep your debit card and banking features
