Updated February 2026 โข 5 min read
๐จ Export your subscribers before canceling. Your email list, automations, sequences, and landing pages are deleted when the account closes. Download everything first.
ConvertKit (rebranded to "Kit" in 2024) is an email marketing platform popular with creators, bloggers, and course sellers. Pricing scales with subscribers โ what starts at $25/month can easily reach $100-200+/month as your list grows. Here is how to cancel without losing your most valuable asset: your email list.
Before You Cancel: Export Everything
1. Export Your Subscriber List
Go to Subscribers in your ConvertKit dashboard
Click Export (top right)
Download the CSV file โ this includes email addresses, names, tags, and custom fields
Import this CSV into your new email platform immediately
2. Save Your Automations
Screenshot your automation workflows (there is no export feature)
Document your email sequences (copy the text of each email)
Note trigger conditions and tags used
3. Save Landing Pages and Forms
Screenshot or save the HTML of any ConvertKit landing pages
Note form embed codes and where they are placed on your website
Update forms on your website to point to your new email service
Option 1: Downgrade to Free
If you have fewer than 10,000 subscribers, downgrade instead of canceling:
Go to Settings โ Billing
Select the Newsletter (Free) plan
You keep: subscribers, landing pages, forms, basic email sends
You lose: automations, sequences, advanced reporting, integrations
Option 2: Cancel Completely
Log into your ConvertKit account
Go to Settings โ Billing
Click Cancel Account or Close Account
Follow the confirmation steps
Your account and all data will be deleted after a grace period
