How to Cancel Confluence Cloud in 2026
Updated March 3, 2026 • 5 min read
⚡ Quick Summary
Go to admin.atlassian.com → Billing → Manage subscriptions → Cancel Confluence. Export all spaces before canceling — Atlassian deletes your data 30 days after cancellation. Canceling Confluence does NOT cancel Jira (they're separate).
Confluence Pricing
- Free: Up to 10 users, 2GB storage
- Standard: $6.05/user/month — 250GB storage, permissions
- Premium: $11.55/user/month — unlimited storage, analytics, admin insights
- Enterprise: Custom pricing — cross-org collaboration, Atlassian Guard
A 25-person team on Standard pays $1,815/year. If your team is under 10 people, the free plan might work.
How to Cancel
- Go to admin.atlassian.com
- Click Billing in the left sidebar
- Click Manage subscriptions
- Find Confluence
- Click Cancel subscription
- Confirm cancellation
Only organization admins can cancel. The cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period.
🚨 Export Your Data — 30-Day Deletion
Atlassian deletes all Confluence data 30 days after cancellation. Export every space before canceling. Go to Space Settings → Content Tools → Export → XML Export for each space. For the full site: Settings → Backup Manager → Create Backup.
How to Export All Spaces
- Per space: Open space → Space Settings → Content Tools → Export → XML (includes pages, comments, attachments)
- Full site backup: admin.atlassian.com → Settings → Backup Manager → Create Backup
- PDF export: Space Settings → Export → PDF (good for archiving readable copies)
- Download and store all exports in a safe location
Jira and Confluence Are Separate
A common confusion: canceling Confluence does NOT cancel Jira, and vice versa. They're separate subscriptions even though they're both Atlassian products. If you want to cancel both, you need to cancel each one individually in the Atlassian admin panel.
Alternatives
- Notion: Free for individuals, $10/user/month for teams — better UX, more flexible. Notion has a Confluence importer
- GitBook: Free for open source — great for technical documentation
- Slite: Free for up to 50 docs — clean, simple team wiki
- Google Docs + Drive: Free with Google Workspace — not a wiki, but most teams end up here anyway
- Outline: Free self-hosted, $10/user/month hosted — open-source Notion/Confluence alternative
- Confluence Free: If you have 10 or fewer users, just downgrade to the free tier
