How to Cancel Boost Mobile in 2026 — Port Your Number First
Updated February 2026 • 4 min read
🚨 PORT YOUR NUMBER BEFORE CANCELING. If you cancel your Boost Mobile account first, your phone number is released and may be reassigned. Port to your new carrier FIRST — the porting process automatically cancels your Boost line.
Step 1: Port Your Number (Do This First)
- Choose your new carrier and start a new line with number transfer
- You'll need your Boost account number and PIN
- Account number: Call Boost at 1-833-502-6678 or check your online account
- PIN: Your 4-digit Boost PIN (set during activation, or last 4 of SSN)
- The new carrier handles the transfer — usually completes in 1-3 hours
- Once ported, your Boost line automatically cancels
Step 2: Cancel Without Porting (If You Don't Want the Number)
- Call 1-833-502-6678
- Say "cancel my account"
- Alternatively, just stop paying — Boost is prepaid, so service stops when your plan expires
- After 60 days of non-payment, the account is permanently deactivated
Boost Mobile Plans
- 1GB: $15/month
- 5GB: $25/month
- Unlimited: $25-60/month (various tiers)
- Boost Infinite: $25-60/month with device payments
Cheaper Phone Plan Alternatives
- Mint Mobile ($15-30/mo): T-Mobile network, 5-15GB plans, prepaid annual discounts
- Visible ($25/mo): Unlimited data on Verizon network, no throttling
- US Mobile ($10-25/mo): Customizable plans, Verizon or T-Mobile network
- Google Fi ($20-65/mo): T-Mobile + US Cellular, international roaming included
- Tello ($10-25/mo): T-Mobile network, build-your-own plan
- TracFone ($15-40/mo): Verizon network, no-contract prepaid
Device Payments and Unlocking
- If you're on Boost Infinite with device payments, you must pay off the device before canceling
- Check device unlock eligibility: Boost requires 12 months of active service before unlocking
- Request unlock: Call 1-833-502-6678 or visit boostmobile.com/support/unlock-device
- A locked phone only works on Boost/T-Mobile network — unlock before switching to Verizon-based MVNOs
Get a Refund
- Boost is prepaid — unused service at cancellation is typically non-refundable
- Device return: 7-day return window from activation date
- Billing disputes: call 1-833-502-6678
