Babbel costs $13.95/month (monthly), $8.95/month (12-month plan), or $299 one-time (Lifetime). If you bought Lifetime, there is nothing to cancel — you own it forever. For everyone else, here is how to stop the recurring charges.
If you subscribed through Apple or Google, canceling on babbel.com does NOT stop billing. You must cancel through the platform where you originally subscribed.
Babbel offers a 20-day money-back guarantee on new subscriptions. If you signed up within the last 20 days, email support@babbel.com and request a full refund. After 20 days, you can cancel future renewals but will not get a refund for the current period.
You do not need to pay for language learning in 2026:
Babbel focuses on structured grammar and conversation. Duolingo gamifies vocabulary with short lessons. If you preferred Babbel's approach but want to stop paying, Language Transfer (free audio courses) is the closest free alternative — it teaches grammar in a conversational, structured way similar to Babbel but without the app.
After canceling, your Babbel account and progress are saved. If you resubscribe later, you pick up where you left off. Your lesson history, vocabulary reviews, and course progress are not deleted — just paused.
Babbel cancellation is straightforward — just make sure you cancel through the right platform (Babbel website vs. Apple vs. Google). If you are within 20 days, get your money back. The free alternatives for language learning are genuinely excellent in 2026 — Duolingo, Language Transfer, Anki, and library resources can replace Babbel entirely.
