Cancel Adore Me VIP 2026: Stop the $39.95/Month Charge You Keep Forgetting to Skip
Updated 2026-03-02 • 6 min read
⚠️ The skip-or-pay trap: Every month, if you don't actively "skip" by the 5th, Adore Me charges your card $39.95 as "store credit." This isn't optional. Many people have accumulated hundreds in unwanted credits. The FTC has investigated these practices.
How to Cancel Adore Me VIP
- Go to adoreme.com and sign in
- Click your Account icon
- Navigate to Membership
- Click Cancel VIP Membership
- Navigate through retention offers (they'll try to keep you — decline everything)
- Confirm cancellation
💡 Having trouble finding the cancel button? Adore Me (now owned by Victoria's Secret) has been known to bury the cancel option. If you can't find it, email hello@adoreme.com with the subject line "Cancel VIP Membership" and reference the FTC Click-to-Cancel rule.
How the VIP Model Works (Against You)
Adore Me's VIP membership is designed to charge you whether you shop or not:
- First of every month: New VIP selections go live
- By the 5th: You must either buy something OR click "Skip this month"
- If you do neither: $39.95 is charged to your card as "store credit"
- Store credits: Can only be used at Adore Me — they're not refundable to your card
- The forgetting tax: Miss 3 months = $120 in credits you never asked for
Get Your Credits Refunded
If you have unused store credits:
- Policy: Adore Me technically says credits are non-refundable
- Reality: They will refund credits if you push back, especially citing the FTC
- Script: "I'd like a refund of my unused VIP credits. I did not intentionally authorize these charges and they were made without my active consent to purchase."
- Escalate: If chat refuses, email hello@adoreme.com requesting a supervisor
- Nuclear option: File a complaint with the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov) and dispute charges with your bank
The Victoria's Secret Connection
Victoria's Secret acquired Adore Me in 2022 for $400 million. Despite the acquisition, Adore Me operates independently with the same VIP model. VS hasn't cleaned up the skip-or-pay system because it's extremely profitable — the "forgetting tax" is a significant revenue stream.
Alternatives Without the Skip Trap
- Victoria's Secret: Regular sales, no membership required
- ThirdLove: Buy when you want, no recurring charges
- Aerie/American Eagle: Frequent 50-60% off sales, no membership
- Target (Auden brand): Budget-friendly, no subscription
- Amazon Essentials: Multi-packs, one-time purchase
🛍️ Adore Me, Savage X Fenty, Fabletics — all use the same skip-or-pay model. If you're signed up for multiple "VIP" programs, you could be losing $80-120/month in forgotten charges. Upload your bank statement to find them all.
