How to Cancel 1Password, LastPass, and Dashlane (2026 Guide)

Updated 2026-02-17 · 5 min read

Password managers cost $3-$5/month ($36-$60/year). They're genuinely useful security tools — but if you're paying for one you don't use, or paying for a premium tier when free alternatives exist, here's how to cancel and export your data.

⚠️ Export Your Passwords FIRST

Before canceling any password manager, export your vault. After canceling, you may lose access to all your saved passwords. Export to CSV, then import into your new manager or browser.

Cancel 1Password ($2.99-$4.99/mo)

  1. Go to my.1password.com/settings/billing
  2. Click Manage billingCancel subscription
  3. Your vault stays accessible in read-only mode after canceling

Export: 1Password app → File → Export → All Items → 1PUX or CSV format

Cancel LastPass ($3-$4/mo)

  1. Go to lastpass.com → Account Settings → My Subscription
  2. Click Cancel subscription
  3. LastPass Free tier exists but is now limited to ONE device type (desktop or mobile, not both)

Export: LastPass vault → Advanced Options → Export → CSV file

⚠️ LastPass Security History

LastPass suffered two major data breaches in 2022 where encrypted vault data was stolen. While passwords were encrypted, many security experts now recommend switching to 1Password, Bitwarden, or Apple Passwords. If you're on LastPass, this might be a good reason to cancel AND switch.

Cancel Dashlane ($4.99-$6.49/mo)

  1. Go to app.dashlane.com → Settings → Subscription
  2. Click Cancel plan
  3. Dashlane keeps your vault accessible in read-only mode

Export: Dashlane app → File → Export vault → Secure CSV

Should You Use a Password Manager at All?

Yes. This is one subscription category where we actually recommend keeping something — just not necessarily a paid one. Password reuse is the #1 security vulnerability for regular people. A free manager (Bitwarden or Apple Passwords) is dramatically better than reusing "MyDog123!" everywhere.
