The Post-Breakup Subscription Checklist: Every Shared Account to Cancel
Published February 14, 2026 ยท 6 min read
Breaking up is hard enough without realizing three months later that you're still paying $22.99/month for your ex to watch Love Is Blind on your Netflix. ๐
The average couple shares 4-6 subscription accounts. After a breakup, most people forget to cancel at least two of them โ costing an average of $50-80/month in zombie charges.
Here's your complete checklist. Go through it now. Future-you will thank present-you.
๐ก Quick way to find everything: Upload your bank statement to Just Cancel and we'll find every recurring charge โ including ones you forgot about. Takes 30 seconds. $5 one-time.
๐ฌ Streaming Services
These are the most commonly shared โ and the most commonly forgotten after a breakup.
Netflix
Netflix cracked down on password sharing in 2023, but if you're on a Standard or Premium plan, your ex might still have a profile. Change your password first, then go to Account โ Manage access and devices โ Sign out all devices. Delete their profile. Consider downgrading to the Standard with Ads plan ($7.99) if you were splitting the Premium ($22.99).
Spotify Family
The Spotify Family plan ($16.99/month) is one of the most common post-breakup money drains. Go to spotify.com/account and remove them from your Family plan. If you were on their plan, sign up for your own โ Individual is $11.99/month, or $5.99 with student discount.
Hulu, Disney+, Max, Paramount+
Check each one. If you were splitting the cost informally (Venmo-ing each other), you're probably still paying full price. Decide which ones you actually watch and cancel the rest.

โ๏ธ Cloud Storage & Apps
Apple iCloud+
If you were on Apple Family Sharing, your ex has access to your iCloud storage, Apple Music, Apple TV+, and shared photo albums. Go to Settings โ [Your Name] โ Family Sharing and remove them. They'll lose access to shared purchases too.
Google One
Shared Google One storage means your ex might be using your 2TB plan for their photos. Go to one.google.com/settings โ Family settings โ remove them.
๐ Food & Delivery
DoorDash DashPass, Uber One, Instacart+
Shared delivery memberships are sneaky because you might not notice the charge until you check your statement. If you added your ex's address to your account, remove it. If you were splitting DashPass ($9.99/month), decide if you use it enough solo to justify the cost.

๐๏ธ Gym & Fitness
Couples gym memberships and partner add-ons ($20-40/month extra) are easy to forget. Check if you have a partner/family plan at your gym and downgrade to individual.
